These are my most recent series of works inspired by black-figure pottery. Since I began rug tufting I’ve found myself more interested in the boundaries between fine art and functional objects and pieces that blur those categories. In these recreations of famous Greek vases, stories of gods and mythology are shown alongside everyday occurrences like weddings and funerals. To to the people who owned and used these objects, the stories depicted on these vases had relevance in everyday life.
In the later pieces, I’m exploring putting contemporary narratives onto these forms that mythologize queer stories and internet interactions.
